Brief Summary of research:
We study the nano and micro structure, and the chemical composition of plant tissues. We work mainly in two directions:
- Hygroscopic movement in seed dispersal
- The roles of silicon oxide in plant physiology.
Specific research topics related to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology:
- BIOMINERALIZATION: Production of bio-silica by plants
- HYGROSCOPIC MOVEMENT: Cellulose-based structure creating movement under changes of the ambient humidity
