Foundation
The Hebrew University Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (HUCNN) was founded in 2001 and provides an Interdisciplinary research platform for 125 research groups from various disciplines – physics, chemistry, applied physics, pharmacy, medicine, agriculture, engineering and life science.
Structure
HUCNN is composed of three units:
- Unit for Nano fabrication (UNF)
- Unit for Nano characterization (UNC)
- Unit for 3D & Functional Printing
The Center provides services to the Hebrew University’s community as well as to the industry and to researchers from other academic institutes in Israel.
Excellency
On top of being a core facility center, HUCNN provides a platform for research collaborations, encourages Interdisciplinary approach between its faculty members, Initiates and produces various events to promote knowledge and research in Nano and train the next generation of scientists by M.Sc. track with specialization in Nano.
We are proud to be a center of academic excellence; our members publish ~400 papers a year in high level leading scientific journals and receives many prizes and prestigious honors. 24 of the Center’s researchers have won 28 of the most prestigious funding awards of the European Community (ERC) for their innovative, cutting edge research projects with research grants totaling 46 million euros.
Vision
Nanotechnology has become the revolutionary force for industrial and economic development in the 21st century. This revolution is already providing solutions for humanity’s main challenges through the development of new smart materials, alternative energy sources, novel drug delivery, new medical and environmental technologies and much more. Our vision is to provide the next, ground breaking quantum leap by merging our excellence in nanomaterials, nanophotonics and nano-bio to create new scientific and technological horizons.
