Brief Summary of research:

Development of molecular nanoelectronics based on DNA. Addressing by physical approaches, central biological and medical challenges for humanity, such as DNA sequencing, early, sensitive and rapid detection of cancer and other targets like the corona virus.

Specific research topics related to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology:

  • Investigation of the morphology, electrical properties and energy spectra of DNA, G4-DNA, and metalized DNA by atomic force microscopy and related methods, by scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) and by direct electrical transport measurements.
  • Development and investigation of new DNA-based nanowires and nanodevices using the above methods and above candidates in collaboration with other groups.
  • Development of solid-state and biological nanopores and investigation of DNA translocation through them towards DNA sequencing and other, also bio-oriented, applications.
  • Development of biomarkers detection sensors and methods, based on nanotechnology tools.
